Stefan Beyst (°1945)

is a Belgium based retired lecturer in the philosophy of art and modern art history.

In 1997 he published 'The ecstasies of Eros',
on the relation between the sexual, parental, economic, political and communal aspects of human life

He is working on an encompassing book on the image.
Many of his often controversial texts on art and modern artists are published on his website.

From 2006 onwards he has embarked on a new adventure: the making of images.
His approach testifies to a radical rejection
of the concept of the image as a duplicate of really existing appearances,
as if it was meant to illustrate Paul Klee's saying :

'Art does not reproduce the visible, it makes visible'.
